POPIA requires responsible parties to process personal information lawfully, transparently, and with appropriate safeguards. POPIA also requires openness about what information is collected and why, and reasonable security safeguards to protect personal information.
WorkBridge processes personal information to:
- Create and manage user accounts
- Verify worker and employer profiles
- Match workers with job opportunities
- Allow employers to post jobs and review applicants
- Allow workers to apply for jobs and manage accepted work
- Enable notifications and platform communication
- Support chat for accepted applications where permitted
- Generate employer reports and marketplace insights
- Improve platform safety, trust, and user experience
- Detect misuse, fraud, or unauthorised activity
- Comply with legal, regulatory, and operational obligations
4. Legal basis for processing
We process personal information where:
- You have provided consent
- Processing is necessary to provide WorkBridge services
- Processing is necessary for account, job, application, verification, or communication functionality
- Processing is required for legitimate platform safety, fraud prevention, reporting, and operational purposes

We do not sell personal information.

- Employers reviewing worker applications
- Workers viewing job-related employer information
- Service providers supporting hosting, authentication, storage, messaging, reporting, and notifications
- Verification or support personnel authorised to review documents and resolve issues
- Legal or regulatory authorities where required by law
- Payment or operational partners where payment/outcome processing is implemented
Worker verification documents are not made publicly available. Verification status may be shown as a trust indicator, but sensitive document contents should only be accessible to authorised parties where required.
6. Employer and worker visibility
Workers may see relevant employer and job information, including business name, job details, compensation, location, and application status.
Employers may see relevant worker profile and application information, including worker name, skills, location, profile completeness, application details, and verification status where applicable.
WorkBridge may restrict visibility of sensitive information to protect privacy and platform integrity.
7. Storage and security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
These measures may include:
- Authentication and access controls
- Role-based permissions
- Supabase row-level security
- Secure document storage
- Restricted access to verification documents
- Audit and monitoring controls
- Secure hosting and environment-variable management
No system is completely secure. Users must protect their login credentials and notify WorkBridge if they suspect unauthorised access.
8. Retention of information
When information is no longer required, we may delete, anonymise, or securely archive it, subject to legal and operational requirements.
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to:
- Provide platform services
- Maintain job, application, and payment/outcome records
